The Borgia family is struck with devastating news that leads to an unexpected admission from Cesare. Meanwhile, Lucrezia finds herself unexpectedly attracted to Alfonso of Aragon and joyfully agrees to marry him. In a desperate attempt to break the will of the rebel leader Savonarola, Cesare resorts to torture but fails to get a confession. Instead, he fabricates one and executes the heretic by burning him alive. As the tension escalates, an assassin makes their move with a deadly poisoned goblet of wine.
