The Untouchables (1959)

S2E32 90-Proof Dame

Jun 08, 1961 Season 2 Episode 32 Drama, Crime

In April 1932, Chicago is dominated by powerful crime bosses, including the formidable Nate Kester, a former enforcer for the Capone gang. To maintain an illusion of legitimacy, he operates the Odeon Theatre, a venue known for its Burlesque shows, while his true business involves smuggling illegal liquor. Kester brings in Henry Bogar, who manages a five-state territory selling imported brandy. He informs Bogar that from now on, he will be distributing Kester’s low-quality rotgut disguised with counterfeit “de Bouverais” cognac labels. After tasting the subpar liquor, Bogar dismisses it as garbage, asserting that true brandy aficionados will never settle for such fakes.
