Maude and Walter are getting ready for a dinner party at Cliff and Joanna Naylor's place. As they prepare, they engage in a playful argument about Cliff's obvious attraction to Maude, which she finds flattering. However, Walter soon delivers a shocking revelation: Cliff is actually involved in an affair with someone else from the country club.
