On September 26, 1997, Garuda Indonesia Flight 152 tragically crashes into mountainous forest terrain while approaching Polonia International Airport in Medan, North Sumatra, amidst poor visibility conditions. The disaster results in the loss of all 234 passengers and crew members on board.
