The Untouchables (1959)
S3E6 Loophole
In January 1933, Chicago, Ness and his team storm a speakeasy run by the gangster Mikhail "Red Mike" Probich, with Connie LaVerne managing the operation. During the ensuing trial, Probich's shifty lawyer, Morton Halas, who has a background of hardship, defends him. The proceedings stretch on for five days, and as Ness prepares to call Connie LaVerne as the final witness—considered crucial to their case—Halas raises an objection, arguing that a wife cannot be compelled to testify against her husband.
