After hunters discovered a skull in a Texas canyon, authorities uncovered fragments of clothing, a woman’s shoe, small bones, and a strand of hair nearby. An anthropologist identified the victim as a Caucasian woman who had suffered multiple stab wounds. A forensic artist created a facial reconstruction, which was shared with the media, leading to the eventual identification of the woman. The next step for the police was to track down her murderer.
