During an evacuation drill for a Space Shuttle crew, tragedy strikes when a pilot dies due to a severed cable. Harm and Meg delve into the investigation, quickly uncovering signs of sabotage. Harm's main suspect is Lt. Cmdr. Lowry, who has recently been promoted. With a critical mission ahead—repairing a spy satellite over Southwest Asia—cancelling the flight is not an option, and Lowry can't be removed from the crew. During a subsequent training flight with Harm and Lowry, another system failure occurs, hinting at further sabotage. While Lowry's innocence is established, the search for the saboteur continues, as the mission must go on despite potential new threats. Locations include AFB Vandenberg and outer space.
