Episode Overview

Victoria takes on the challenge of reopening Tucson's only school and forms a bond with a troubled Mexican boy named Carlos. However, things take a dark turn when Carlos's father, Alberto Ruis, a fugitive wanted for murder, abandons him in a desperate attempt to escape capture. Carlos, holding onto his father's promise to return, chooses to stay with a local family and enroll in Victoria's school. He quickly responds to Victoria's kindness, but faces bullying from classmates, which ultimately drives him to seek out his father. Victoria and Pedro manage to find Carlos, but in a shocking twist, Alberto kidnaps Victoria, demanding ransom.
