The CIA experiences a significant victory when Vitaly Yurchenko, a senior KGB official, defects to the United States. Aldrich Ames is tasked with leading the debriefing, where he plays a tense game of wits to uncover whether he's at risk of exposure. As Yurchenko discloses that he is aware of a mole within the CIA, Ames contemplates extreme actions. At the same time, Sandy worries about the safety of a cherished and respected asset, General Dmitri Polyakov.
