On a chilly, snow-covered day in Springfield, Lisa tells Bart that the connection she has with Maggie is something he can't grasp since he has no brother. This prompts Bart to approach Homer, requesting a baby brother. However, when Homer turns him down, Bart decides to visit the Springfield Orphanage in search of the sibling he believes he’s lacking.
