Henry Pruett, a wandering salesman, unexpectedly visits Margaret's home. Years ago, he was a bright college student alongside Margaret and Jim, with aspirations of becoming a doctor. Now, however, he finds himself as a struggling salesman, a fact that fills him with shame, prompting him to conceal his current situation. Despite his efforts to hide the truth, Margaret and Jim soon uncover his predicament, leading to an awkward revelation about the paths their lives have taken since their college days.
