When Gramps declines to sell the farm to the unscrupulous Emmet Carey, Edgar Carey concocts a scheme by claiming that a scratch from barbed wire in the barn is actually a bite from Lassie. He believes the Millers would rather relinquish their farm than part with their beloved dog.
