Elizabeth I's Secret Agents

S01E01 Episode 1

In this episode, England stands isolated as a Protestant nation amidst a predominantly Catholic Europe. Twelve years into Elizabeth's reign, the Pope brands her a heretic, igniting a dangerous resolve among English Catholics who feel justified in plotting her assassination. To counter this threat, Queen Elizabeth turns to her spymaster, William Cecil, who sets up an extensive espionage network—England's inaugural secret service. His operatives work tirelessly to dismantle Catholic conspiracies both within the country and beyond its borders.
