Nick decides to let Carole take charge of an exercise, but the men aren’t too thrilled about her directive to crawl between pumps using the ladders. The crew gets dispatched to a significant fire in a garage, where Carole finally gets the opportunity to demonstrate her skills by helping Nick revive an injured man. Meanwhile, Stephen visits his father at the fire station, and Recall manages to keep him hidden from Chapman. Stephen reveals he has run away from boarding school, and Carole permits him to stay for the day. Chapman asks Nick to attend a fire brigade conference, which he reluctantly agrees to, allowing Carole to step up as Station Officer. Jack returns Stephen to Linda, leading to a disagreement about boarding school, which ends with a kiss interrupted by Stephen. Laura heads back to Scotland, and Recall realizes their relationship is truly over. Blue Watch responds to a closed garage where a dog got sick from a spill, but the owner assures them there's no danger. Meanwhile, Maggie is overwhelmed with stage
