In an effort to never miss crucial meetings with her boss, Rachel makes the choice to start smoking. At the same time, Ben lands an audition for a soup commercial, prompting Joey to try out for the role of Ben's father in the ad. Meanwhile, Monica and Phoebe team up to throw a surprise birthday celebration for Rachel, but Monica ultimately takes control of the planning.
