As Fran's popularity grows, her editor, Buzz, suggests that Mama deserves a share of the earnings. However, Fran is reluctant, intending to phase out Mama’s “Home-Spun” advice in favor of incorporating psychological insights in her future articles. That evening, Fran goes on a date with her editor, Dwight Nettles, who appreciates her advice but is puzzled by the psychological jargon she added. He reveals he has a dilemma of his own involving a married friend who's infatuated with a new female colleague. Seeking Mama's counsel, Fran discreetly steps away to call her for advice.
