Maude tosses and turns, unable to find rest as a weighty thought occupies her mind. She feels the urge to share the news with Walter, but he’s preoccupied, fretting over the impending blizzard and the summer sale he has planned for the next day. Frustrated, Maude decides to reveal her news anyway: her doctor has recommended that she undergo a hysterectomy.
