After a dying man confesses to the hit-and-run murder of a teenager in 1992, Moretti seeks Pierce’s expertise to assess the man’s reliability. Complications arise when Dr. Hutchins, the suspect's doctor, discloses that the patient’s tumor has inexplicably vanished. Together, Pierce and Moretti must investigate the shadows of the past to unravel the truth behind a disturbing sequence of seemingly connected murders.
