S4E3 In Defence of Others

Deed presides over a case where a man is accused of murdering a paedophile, but the jury ultimately acquits him. Following his release, the man holds a press conference, advocating for similar vigilantism elsewhere. Meanwhile, Marc Thompson, Michael's biological father, arrives in England, dashing Jo's dreams of adopting Michael. In a twist, Jo begins dating Marc, igniting Deed's jealousy. In a moment of poor judgment, Deed embarks on an affair with a woman involved in a court case. Ultimately, Jo decides to relocate to South Africa with Marc.
