Clark and Lana inexplicably find themselves plotting to take Chloe's life after receiving a puzzling email from the Summerholt Institute. As Chloe discloses her findings about the lab's mind-control experiments, Clark realizes they may be targeting her to silence her before she publishes an exposé. Meanwhile, Lana makes the decision to lease the apartment above the café to Adam, despite her lingering suspicions that he is concealing something treacherous from his past.
