On November 1, 1999, Bren's day takes a turn for the worse as a series of unfortunate events unfold. A holiday snapshot from Tony, the arrival of a visiting blood donation team, and the news of an escaped convict all conspire to create a chaotic atmosphere. As these elements collide, Bren finds herself grappling with the unexpected challenges that come her way, making for a particularly rough day.
