Ishikawa Takuboku, a talented poet, relocates to Tokyo thanks to his upperclassman, Kindaichi Kyousuke. Captivated by the nightlife and women, Takuboku quickly finds himself short on cash. While exploring Asakusa together, the pair unexpectedly witnesses a murder. The victim, Tatsukichi, was employed by Oguri, the chief clerk at the Arakawa mines. After a letter of accusation from Tatsukichi and the murder weapon are found, Oguri is taken into custody. However, Takuboku remains skeptical about his guilt…
