FBI Agent Jack Willis and bank robber Warren Dupre are simultaneously shot during a heist, resulting in Dupre's death while Willis is miraculously revived. After Willis hastily leaves the hospital, his behavior becomes increasingly odd, prompting Mulder to suspect that Dupre has somehow transferred his consciousness into Willis' body.
