Victor Kellerman, a German American, arrives in the village with a deadly intention: to kill local landowner Mr. Lessor. However, when he confronts Lessor, he hesitates and ultimately decides to leave. Later, Kellerman is apprehended, and Nick is tasked with bringing him back. It comes to light that Lessor was a traitor to the SS, having sent Kellerman and his family to Nazi concentration camps during World War II. Meanwhile, Kate is caring for Lessor, who is struggling with diabetes. As he faces court proceedings, he overdoses on insulin, leading to the dismissal of charges due to lack of evidence. Tragedy unfolds when Dr. Alex Ferrenby drowns while fishing after suffering a brain hemorrhage, and Greengrass gets involved in helping gypsies set up bare-knuckle fights.
