When a woman’s conviction for poisoning a banker is overturned due to issues with a key laboratory, a re-trial ensues. This prompts Brenda to seek assistance from Provenza's ex-partner to resolve lingering details. However, the team soon realizes that Provenza's former ally has changed significantly since they last worked together. As the case intensifies, it threatens to derail Brenda and Fritz’s much-anticipated vacation plans.
