The long wait has finally yielded results as the net tightens around Karla's mole. A deal is struck to exchange him for multiple English spies held captive by the KGB, yet Prideaux remains missing, holding a grudge against the mole that needs resolving. With the Circus’s leadership in disarray and efforts underway to manage the fallout, Smiley is unable to return to safety but stays behind to help pick up the scattered pieces.
