Extreme Fishing With Robson Green (2008)

S4E5 New Caledonia

Jun 09, 2011 Season 4 Episode 5 Documentary

Robson ventures beyond Australia into the Pacific, discovering a fishing haven in New Caledonia, an island blessed with sunshine and the world’s largest lagoon, where new fish species are still emerging. Eager to explore remote areas seldom visited by outsiders, he aims to learn fishing techniques from the local tribes. Today, he’s on the hunt for the elusive Flame Snapper, a fish he’s never encountered before. Teaming up with skilled fishermen Yann and Joelle, Robson must quickly prove himself, especially since Yann has little patience for mistakes. Soon, he finds himself battling a one-meter Spanish Mackerel. To the north, he encounters the Kanak people, who are welcoming but the fish prove more elusive, leading to a jellyfish sting for Robson. With permission to fish in Kanak territory, he sets his sights on the Giant Trevally. When he finally hooks one, he realizes the challenge is just beginning as he strives to reel it in.
