As they begin their residency, Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens, and Alex Karev take on the responsibility of mentoring new interns. Among them is George, who is repeating his internship after not passing his exams, and Lexie Grey, Meredith's half-sister. The season kicks off with the introduction of two more interns.
