Ellery is drawn into a murder case when his former college friend, Linville Hagen, is charged with the killing of mobster Nick Danello. To clear Linville’s name, Ellery must track down a key witness—a woman in a green dress. Unfortunately, that description matches countless women in New York. Ole Frank Flannigan joins Ellery on this quest, and surprisingly, their dynamic has shifted, as Frank is not as hostile towards Ellery this time around.
