Defenders of the Earth (1986)
Launched in 1986, Defenders of the Earth brings together iconic characters from King Features Syndicate's comic strips, including Flash Gordon, The Phantom, and Mandrake the Magician. Set in a futuristic 2015, these heroes unite to battle the nefarious Ming the Merciless. The ensemble is complemented by their children—Rick Gordon, Jedda Walker, and Kshin—as well as Mandrake's loyal assistant, Lothar, and his son, L.J. Spanning 65 episodes, the show also inspired a brief comic series from Star Comics, with music by Rob Walsh and Tony Pastor, and lyrics penned by Stan Lee. It later aired on the Sci Fi Channel.
