The 918th faces a series of maintenance issues. General Creighton from G-2 assigns them the task of deploying a spy, Ilka Zradna, into occupied Poland. Unfortunately, Aircraft Army 262 has to abort the mission, resulting in the deaths of Langaard and Hetz, leaving only three crew members—Komansky, Rodman, and Booker—along with Ilka alive. Back at Group, an angry Komansky punches Podesta, leading both men to be demoted to Private by Gallagher. General Creighton informs Gallagher that there are 20 German saboteurs in England posing as Allied airmen, with plans to expose the entire Group. Later, Podesta is discovered murdered near sabotaged ammunition, revealing that the saboteurs are on the base. It turns out Podesta was a CIC agent, as is T/4 Thibideaux.
