On the evening of October 30th, 1983, Colette set out on foot for her boyfriend's place in Willow Brook, a journey of just twenty minutes. Usually, he'd drive over to collect her, but his car was out of commission. When he called her mother, Jacqui, asking where Colette was, the clock had just struck 8pm, and the first wave of dread crashed in. The following day, police discovered Colette’s body, naked and discarded in a muddy field off Thurlby Lane, a secluded lovers' lane a mile and a half away. The killer evaded capture, even after a pub landlady noticed blood on his hands that same night.
