After sustaining a severe head injury in the previous season's finale, Jim returns home to recover, sparking tension among Syd, Joanie, and Robbie. Syd is convinced that Jim requires professional care beyond what they can offer, while Joanie insists that being at home with family is what he truly needs. Meanwhile, Robbie feels disconnected and resentful over the father he feels has changed. As Syd navigates the family dynamics, she also faces a challenging patient who is convinced that the characters on television are real, complicating her already difficult situation.
