In this episode, Syd lends a hand to a high school runner, portrayed by guest star Brian Poth, who is pushed to succeed by his strict coach and father. As Syd navigates this challenge, she finds herself drawn to the charming son of a dignified mob boss, played by guest star John Capodice, whose cherished pug receives care at her father's veterinary clinic. Meanwhile, Joanie faces a setback in her culinary endeavors when her famous meatloaf is rejected by humans but becomes a hit with the local dogs.
