Eager to reconnect with their Texas heritage after relocating from Oklahoma, the Bowmans are in search of a house that embodies Texas charm without being overly rustic for John, while still feeling casual enough for Margie. After spending months in a motel, this family of five, along with their two dogs, is ready to transition from living out of suitcases to settling into a real home. However, unexpected repairs on one fixer-upper lead to delays in construction for Chip and Jo and a surprising ten percent increase in the Bowmans' budget.
