Episode Overview

On September 3, 1989, the crew of Varig Flight 254 mistakenly inputs the wrong coordinates into the navigation system. Instead of heading toward their intended location, the plane veers west and finds itself over a desolate stretch of the Amazon rainforest. Efforts to divert to another airport fail, and the aircraft eventually exhausts its fuel supply. The pilot is forced to execute an emergency belly landing in the dense jungle, resulting in the tragic loss of 13 lives.
