With winter break approaching, Jack attempts to film a lecture on Thoreau's transcendentalism to enhance his application to the University of Wisconsin's philosophy program. However, he struggles to complete the video and, overwhelmed by frustration, eventually drifts off to sleep, leading to a series of unsettling nightmares.
