Title: Day 5: 8:00 A.M.-9:00 A.M. Plot: Jack and Chloe break into the penthouse where David Palmer was killed, searching for clues regarding his assassination. Jack persuades Wayne Palmer to assist them and discovers vital information in Palmer's memoirs, pointing him towards the airport where the Russian president is set to arrive. Meanwhile, CTU and the Secret Service try to apprehend Jack, but he and Derek manage to evade capture, leaving only Chloe behind. Martha struggles to convince her husband that she received a critical call from Palmer the night before his murder, but a recording appears to dispute her story. At the airport, Jack’s pursuit is interrupted when a band of rogue Russian terrorists takes hostages, including Derek.
