W.P.C. Viv Martella and W.P.C. June Ackland inform Acting D.I. Ted Roach about a case involving a fake gasman. As Ackland teams up with D.C. Mike Dashwood to look into two recent incidents, the widow of a gas inspector manages to trap the impostor in her basement. Meanwhile, Insp. Christine Frazer has a serious discussion with P.C. Pete Ramsey. Outside the station, a weapons amnesty bin leads CID to uncover a gun linked to a robbery from five years prior, prompting Roach to pursue the suspect, Pat Duffy. Ch. Insp. Conway consults legal counsel regarding the admissibility of the gun as evidence due to the amnesty, but Roach defies Conway's orders and arrests Duffy. Conway is livid, yet Roach insists they’re in the clear since Duffy’s ex-wife turned in the gun.
