While practicing in Bill's garage, their loud music accidentally sends Missy's cherished antique Chinese vase crashing to the floor. In a panic to replace it before she returns, Bill and Ted travel back to Ancient China in hopes of finding a real substitute. However, they soon find themselves in trouble after causing chaos in a vase shop named 1000 Vases of Dr. Lao, where they are sentenced to work on the Great Wall. Unbeknownst to them, their time machine is towed to Kublai Khan's palace. After a detour for lunch at Oodles of Noodles, they receive a note from Rufus, learning about their booth's location. A series of misadventures leads them aboard Marco Polo’s ship, where they end up painting the deck and walking the plank, losing their vase to a shark.
