Overview

Amidst the turmoil of the American Civil War, a Confederate soldier named W.P. Inman, injured and disillusioned, abandons his regiment to return to his beloved wife, Ada, whom he left to manage their farm alone. As Inman braves the dangers of his journey through the Southern landscape, Ada fights to preserve their homestead with the help of Ruby, an enigmatic wanderer sent by a compassionate neighbor to aid her in this challenging time.
