First to Fight (1967)
Jack emerges as the only survivor of a devastating Japanese strike on his unit during the Guadalcanal campaign, earning him the prestigious Medal of Honor. Back home, he takes on the role of a trainer for new Marine recruits and finds love with Peggy. However, as he grapples with the emptiness stemming from training and impending marriage, Jack opts for a transfer back to combat.
