Set against the backdrop of Bucharest in 1989, during the twilight of Ceaușescu's regime, Eva navigates the trials of adolescence alongside her young brother, Lalalilu. After accidentally damaging a bust of the dictator at school, Eva faces expulsion and is sent to a reformatory. There, she forms a bond with Andrei and hatches a plan to flee Romania. Meanwhile, Lalalilu, convinced that Ceaușescu is to blame for Eva's plight, rallies his friends to devise a daring scheme to assassinate the oppressive leader, blending innocence with a desperate quest for freedom.
