Overview

In 1821 Brazil, cattle rancher Antonio returns home to a devastating loss—his wife has died during childbirth. Left to navigate life in his sprawling estate filled with enslaved Africans, he takes a new bride, his late wife's niece. However, Antonio struggles with his restless spirit and the weight of his responsibilities, often abandoning his young wife to return to the open range.
