Overview

Missie and Willie Lahaye continue their journey as settlers in the West, establishing a homestead and nurturing their young daughter, Kathy. Missie discovers her calling as a teacher while Willie focuses on expanding their ranch with help from their sons, Jeff and Matthew. The arrival of the railroad brings excitement and a long-awaited visit from Missie's father, Clark. However, tragedy strikes with Kathy's sudden death, creating a rift between Missie and Willie. As Willie takes on the role of sheriff under the influential Samuel Doros, the couple struggles to mend their fractured family, while Jeff finds himself infatuated with Doros' daughter, Colette.
