A Woman Under the Influence (1974)
Mabel Longhetti feels isolated and yearning for connection in her marriage to Nick, a construction worker in Los Angeles. Her emotional instability becomes apparent, particularly in social situations, alarming Nick enough to seek help. He ultimately decides to have her institutionalized for six months, believing it’s in the best interest of their family. Left to care for their three children alone, Nick grapples with the challenges of single parenthood while anticipating Mabel’s return, which promises to bring unexpected changes and revelations to their lives.
