The film centers on a married woman's hidden love affair. Biriçim, a painter trapped in depression, can't connect with her husband and has lost her creative spark. Confined to her home, she often thinks of her uncle—also a painter—who went mad and died. Then Ömer, an old friend of her husband, arrives from America. He resembles her uncle, and Biriçim feels an immediate kinship with him. That closeness soon deepens into a secret romance. Yet the bond forming between two painters will ultimately transform the lives of all three people involved.
