Myra Savage, a struggling British housewife, transforms her life by becoming a medium, conducting seances in her living room with the covert help of her husband, Billy, who battles asthma and unemployment. Seeking to boost her reputation as a psychic, Myra devises a misguided plan to abduct the daughter of a wealthy couple, intending to later assist the authorities in locating the missing child.
