The Lives of Others (2006)
Set in East Berlin in 1984, Gerd Wiesler, a committed Stasi agent, is assigned to monitor a renowned playwright and his actress partner, Christa-Maria. As he delves deeper into their lives, Wiesler unexpectedly finds himself drawn to their artistic spirit and personal struggles. His growing empathy complicates his allegiance when his superior develops an interest in Christa-Maria, forcing Wiesler to confront his moral beliefs and the oppressive system he serves.
