Rick Heller, a troubled teen, finds himself in constant conflict with the law. In an effort to steer him away from trouble, his mother assigns him to clean the cage of Katie, a gorilla being taught sign language. However, when Katie’s owner decides to take her back for exploitation at a flea market, Rick can't stand by.
